Parent and Child #6
Hi what is your name and whose parent are you?
Lorna, Harry’s mum.
How long has your child been skating?
Harry starts his second group of lessons on Saturday. He had not really skateboarded properly before this. So 6 weeks.
What do you think about them skateboarding? Are you not worried they might hurt themselves?
We love how much he is enjoying skateboarding. I will be honest, I was concerned when he first said he wanted to join that he would hurt himself, but he wears the right safety gear and Tom is always on hand to help them back up.
What got your child into skateboarding?
We saw Tom’s post on Facebook and it jumped out as something Harry might like to give a go. We came for the trial / open morning and he was signed up by the time we left 😃
Do you think it’s a positive pastime? Even with all the stigma surrounding skateboarding?
Definitely! Anything that encourages children to try new activities, make new friends and be outdoors has to be a positive.
What do you think of Tom the Tic Tac Skate Coach? And how has his presence helped your child regarding skateboarding?
Tom is great! We love the rapport he has with both the children and the parents. He’s passionate about what he does and this passion is what makes the group such a success, the children are inspired by him.
Can you imagine not being around skateboarding you or your child now?
The first thing Harry does when he comes home from school is practice on his board, he wants to get better and knows that only practice will do that. It’s lovely to see him so motivated by something.
