Parent and child Interview #2

Hi what is your name and whose parent are you?

Lisa and Theo(dorous tyrannosaurus) age 4

How long has your child been skating?

Theo started for the first time 6 weeks ago when Tom started the school

What do you think about them skateboarding? Are you not worried they might hurt themselves?

He loves skateboarding as long as he is happy I will encourage him, yes I think most parents worry about their child hurting themselves but with the correct safety gear you hope the risk is minimalized and there is only so much cotton wool you can wrap them in.

What got your child into skateboarding? Was it your influence or...

Theo started watching skateboarding on you tube and became fascinated with it he can tell you a large amount of terminology and tell you how to do the tricks, just isn’t able to do them himself but is happy to instruct Tom to do them and is also quick to tell Tom if he is sloppy which he takes in good humour.

Do you think it’s a positive pastime? Even with all the stigma surrounding skateboarding?

Yes it is anything getting children outside has to be positive, and it has been great to have watched all the children and even some of the parents progress over the last 6 weeks and everybody is so supportive of one another.

What do you think of Tom the Tic Tac Skate Coach? And how has his presence helped your child regarding skateboarding?

Tom is fab, very friendly and the kids gravitate to him he is very patient with all of them taking his time to ensure they are safe and happy with what they are learning.

Can you imagine not being around skateboarding you or your child now?

No, we do not live local to Ascot but when we’re not coming for the session we try and get down to our local park so Theo can practice although he doesn’t seem to trust me as much and would rather sit and watch the big boys do their thing.

What do you think you could contribute to the Tic Tac skate school?

I am more then happy to support Tom sharing things on social media or any other requests he has for us.

What valuable life skills do you think your child has learnt from skateboarding?

It is encouraging of all to be inclusive of everybody from the oldies supporting the younger ones and vice versa in some cases, helps build confidence and not forgetting the first thing of skateboarding….. park etiquette!

And finally, would you recommend skateboarding to anyone who has never tried it?

Yes 100% it’s a fun way to be outside doing something different
