Silver Surfer #2
Hi what is your name and how old are you?
Daniel Hodgson 40 and a bit
Tell us a little about yourself, what do you do, why have you started to skateboard and how long have you been skating?
I make music, videos and take photos and I’m a serial hobbyist. I used to skate in the 90 very badly and it’s always something I’ve been interested in, watching it, reading about it, watching countless skate videos. I started skating again because my 8 year old son wanted to check out our local skate park and It just so happened that Tom was teaching that day and George desperately wanted to get involved, and you guessed it the rest is history 😀
How does it feel to do something as cool as skateboarding?
It feels great to be out and about rolling around and learning a new skill. The best part by far is sharing the learning and progression with my son George, this is the first hobby/interest (obsession) that we have bonded over and that feeling is priceless.
How do your friends and family think about it? About you starting a crazy pastime at this stage of your life?
Most of my friends and family think it’s great and some think I’m way too old to skate, but what do they know? They obviously haven’t experienced the joy of regular ankle, wrist and back injuries 🤙🏼
Have you had any injuries since you started? And if so has it deterred you from skateboarding in anyway?
I dislocated my foot a month ago 😂 it hasn’t put me off one bit and I can’t wait to get back on my board.
How has skating changed you as a person?
Is made me rad to the power of sick.
Do you think Tic Tac Skate School is a good way of learning? And the coach is he any good?
Until now I have never seen anything like this in my area. It’s a fantastic way to get young and old into something new and alternative.
Tom is a fantastic chap that is very obviously passionate about skating, sharing knowledge and skill, but if you look a little closer it’s not just about learning to skate it’s learning how to be confident in a group, how to work as a team, being confident as an individual, respect , trust, the list goes on. It’s a great thing.
Any final words you would like everyone to know about how you feel about being a ‘Skater’ now?
You can also be rad to the power of sick with skateboarding 🤘🏻
